Professor Solomon Darwin comes with broad Leadership Experience in Corporate Management & Academia. He is an international speaker and has been recognized by peers and students with numerous awards for his innovative leadership, curriculum development and passion for teaching. At Berkeley, he is the Executive Director of the Center for Corporate Innovation. He inspires students from both business and engineering disciplines teaching courses in Open Innovation, Business Models, Building Smart Cities and IBM Watson. His project based courses are meant to solve grand challenges where his students are evaluated by high level senior executives and government leaders closely linked to the projects.

As an expert in Open Innovation, he consults and advises senior executives, multinationals and governments around the world. The list includes: Google, Genentech, Hewlett Packard, HealthNet, J&J,Toyota, NHS of UK, UCSF, Startups among other Silicon Valley companies including governmental entities in Mexico, China, Russia, India and Europe. He directs and moderates International Innovation Conferences, Forums, and chairs quarterly Chief Innovation Officer Round Tables in the Silicon Valley. Prior to joining Berkeley in 2005, he was an Associate Professor for 9 years at Univ. Southern California, LA.

His progressive corporate leadership experience covers a span of 14 years as a Senior Corporate Finance Officer at Bank of America, First Interstate Bank and Glendale Federal Bank and Motorola.

His academic achievements include: BA (San Francisco State University); MBA (Golden Gate University); MCCP (Harvard University) and holds two honorary doctorates. He was awarded an honorary professorship at Lancaster University, UK and Shanghai Jai‐tong University, China. Solomon serves on several non‐profit boards including The Big Innovation Center, London, UK.

He is passionate about helping the poor to have access to good education and healthcare. He founded a school (1996) and a hospital (2004) for the poor in India.
